Dear Forum Friends:

Here we go; our second Pandemic Season begins. It's not fun, and we have so much work to do to save our democratic republic. After l list the speakers and topics, I will announce an action that YOU can take on Jan. 6, 2022. It won't cost much, but it's something we can do.

If you are a reasonable distance from Century Village East in Deerfield Beach, FL, you are invited to join other Forum participants on the outside patio of the Old Florida Cafe behind the Clubhouse pool. This is a public restaurant. Please tell security your destination. They should let you enter. Problems entering? Call me at 917-344-0798. It's not necessary to order a meal; coffee will do. I haven't yet tried these arrangements. Let's see how it works. The aim of this gathering is to allow us to find some safe, quality conversation after the ZOOM presentation.

Dearest Forum Friends:

We are beginning our 2022 Season of Forum Speakers on Saturday, January 8 at 10:00 AM. Our Board, Patty Bender (VP), Steve Handler (Treasurer), Phyllis Mansfield (Programming Chair), Ann Baxter (Member-at-Large) and I, Carol (Chip) Stock, have been working closely with the Staff Office regarding indoor meeting space. I recognize that it's been a long while since you've heard from me.

As of now, the occupancy of our Meeting Room A (at Le Club complex is limited to 50% of its usual capacity (100). We have booked our 12 speakers for this year and are already working on next year's line-up. This year our program will be via ZOOM and accessible to anyone in the WORLD!

It was very sad for me to concur with the " ZOOM-only" decision. I've been looking forward to finally getting together personally. However we all considered everyone's health to be primary in our decision making. The situation in South Florida is in flux and makes it necessary to now put our schedule in place through March.

For those who live nearby, after the meeting, you are invited to gather at the outdoor patio of the Old Florida Cafe next to the big outdoor pool behind the main clubhouse. We'll gather 30 minutes after the ZOOM presentation ends. Come for coffee, iced tea or a meal, but especially for the conversation.

In addition, we are opening the ZOOM meeting at 9:30 AM for people to chat and see one another before the speaker begins at 10:00 AM. It may be a bit noisy, but possibly fun. Please invite those you know who may be interested in the topic and/or the Forum. All meetings this year are free!

We'll also be providing information on political actions taking place in Southern Florida and "online". Time to save our democracy is running out. Whether you are an Independent, or a political party member, we need to fight for our constitutional rights which are being chewed up by the Republicans and others who want to destroy whatever government we still have.

The midterm elections will take place in November 2022. Whom would you rather have in the majority in the House and the Senate? If you want to get as many voters out as possible, check out: VOTEFWD.ORG. You can write postcards and/or letters on your own time in your own place. Rich and I are currently working on a pack of postcards. They help you with everything.
